Products that meet the requirements of CE marking directives must be CE marked. By affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer declares that the product complies with the essential health, environmental, and safety requirements specified in the relevant EU directives. The CE mark acts as a passport, allowing the product to be sold freely within the EU single market.
For many products, the CE mark is required in order for them to be sold within the European Union (EU). When a product bears this marking, it means that the manufacturer or importer certifies that the product complies with EU health, environmental, and safety requirements.
The EU decides which products are covered by the CE marking. In some cases, it is necessary to take into account multiple different parts of EU legislation. The requirements are found either in EU directives, which are transposed into national law, or in EU regulations, which are directly applicable in the member states.
